Before you order
This page gathers what True North Saunas publishes about the Cabin, checked Oct 11, 2026, and adds up what it costs to install. Our verdict on it runs in True North Saunas review: is the cheapest Canadian cedar barrel worth it?.
Who should buy the Cabin?
The Cabin suits a buyer who wants a peaked-roof cedar room with a porch for $7,000 and will build it from a kit. True North makes it in Owen Sound from 38 mm (1.5 in) white or red cedar, and its model page gives the standard room as about 2.2 m long, 2.1 m deep and 2.3 m high (7.1 by 7 by 7.5 ft).
True North doesn't say how many people it seats. For a group of six, LeisureCraft's Georgian is the bigger cabin at 2.1 m (7 ft) square inside, and it costs $3,300 more. If price comes first, True North's barrel kit from the same shop costs $1,500 less.
What does it take to install?
Plan a level base at least 2.2 by 2.1 m (7.1 by 7 ft), plus the porch, which True North builds 30 or 60 cm (1 or 2 ft) deep. The kit ships in a crate, usually to a freight depot, and True North will quote you on-site assembly. Flat floors, benches, a glass door and a vent kit come in the crate. A wood stove needs a chimney, and an electric heater needs a 240V circuit wired by a licensed electrician.
What does the Cabin cost all in?
| Cost | Amount | Where the figure comes from |
|---|---|---|
| List price | $7,000 | The regular price at True North, recorded Oct 10, 2026. |
| Two front windows | $350 | Optional, or one window left or right |
| Harvia M3 wood stove | From $1,187 | Sold by True North |
| Harvia KIP 80 electric | From $1,631.95 | 8 kW at 240V, 33.3 amps |
| Depot freight | Quoted | You collect the crate at a terminal |
| Building it on site | Quoted | True North's crew, at added cost |
By our math, the Cabin with two front windows and True North's Harvia M3 comes to $8,537, before chimney pipe, freight and tax. Under True North's shipping terms, cancelling after the first day costs 3.95% of the order plus $500, so settle the options before you pay.

What to know before you buy
Eastern White Cedar, Western Red Cedar, electric or wood-fired. These decide whether it suits your space and your electrical panel.
- Western Red CedarWestern Red Cedar is the high-end sauna wood, and it resists rot and insects naturally. It's aromatic and conducts heat poorly, so benches stay cool enough to sit on at 90°C (194°F).
- Eastern White CedarEastern white cedar grows from Nova Scotia to Manitoba, so Ontario and Quebec builders can mill it close to home. The US Forest Products Laboratory's Wood Handbook puts it within a few percent of western red cedar on weight and heat flow and rates its heartwood as decay resistant. The wood is a pale, even light brown.
- Wood-FiredA log stove heats the room, so the sauna runs fully off-grid and the crackling fire becomes part of the ritual. Fans of wood heat call its löyly the softest. Plan for a chimney and about 45–60 min of heat-up.
