Before you order
This page gathers what SaunaSpa publishes about the Barrel Classic, checked Oct 11, 2026, and adds up what it costs to install. Our verdict on it runs in LeisureCraft sauna review: which Ontario-built model fits your yard?.
Who should buy the Barrel Classic?
The Barrel Classic suits a buyer in Quebec or Ontario who wants a barrel that arrives built and gets set in place. SaunaSpa makes it in Saint-Chrysostome in lengths from 1.5 to 3.7 m (5 to 12 ft), and rates the 5 ft for two and the 12 ft for ten.
The standard walls are 25 mm (1 in) cedar, and SaunaSpa doesn't say where its cedar grows. Nootka's 8 ft barrel uses BC cedar milled near its Squamish shop. True North's barrel kit starts about $1,200 below SaunaSpa's 8 ft if you'll put it together yourself.
What does it take to install?
SaunaSpa's FAQ asks for a level, well-drained base 1.2 m (4 ft) wide and as long as the barrel, and a row of cement slabs is the simplest way to build one. The barrel arrives assembled and goes straight onto it, so the truck and any forklift or crane need a clear route to the spot. Every Barrel Classic stands 2 m (6.5 ft) tall. An electric heater needs a dedicated 240V circuit from a licensed electrician, and in Ontario the buried cable stays exposed until ESA inspects it.
What does the Barrel Classic cost all in?
| Cost | Amount | Where the figure comes from |
|---|---|---|
| List price | $4,399–$9,199 | The regular price at SaunaSpa, recorded Oct 10, 2026. |
| Harvia M3 wood stove | $1,230 | From SaunaSpa's configurator |
| SaunaSpa S8A1 8 kW electric | $800 | SaunaSpa doesn't name who makes it |

By our math, the 8 ft barrel, which SaunaSpa rates for up to six, comes to $7,929 with the Harvia M3, before delivery and tax. SaunaSpa takes a deposit to book the build and collects the balance on delivery, once you've looked the sauna over.

The SaunaSpa Barrel Sauna Classic is a traditional sauna. Its heater warms the air to about 80–100°C (176–212°F), and sessions run 15 to 20 minutes. An infrared cabin runs at 45–60°C.
What to know before you buy
Western Red Cedar, electric or wood-fired. These decide whether it suits your space and your electrical panel.
- Western Red CedarWestern Red Cedar is the high-end sauna wood, and it resists rot and insects naturally. It's aromatic and conducts heat poorly, so benches stay cool enough to sit on at 90°C (194°F).
- Wood-FiredA log stove heats the room, so the sauna runs fully off-grid and the crackling fire becomes part of the ritual. Fans of wood heat call its löyly the softest. Plan for a chimney and about 45–60 min of heat-up.
- ElectricAn electric heater holds a steady temperature on its thermostat and needs no chimney. Many models add app or timer control.
