Before you order
This page gathers what LeisureCraft publishes about the MiniPOD, checked Oct 11, 2026, and adds up what it costs to install. Our verdict on it runs in LeisureCraft sauna review: which Ontario-built model fits your yard?.
Who should buy the MiniPOD?
The MiniPOD suits a household of four that wants more height overhead than a barrel gives. LeisureCraft rates it for four on benches along the side walls, with 1.95 m (6.4 ft) of height inside. It's built in Melancthon from eastern white cedar that LeisureCraft buys from Ontario mills.
If you'd rather have a round barrel, LeisureCraft's Harmony seats the same four for $26 more. A bigger group should look at True North's Large Pod from Owen Sound, which runs up to 3 m (10 ft) long with a porch.
What does it take to install?
Plan a level base about 2.2 m (7.1 ft) square, since LeisureCraft gives the outside as 216 by 217 cm. The crate weighs 636 kg (1,403 lb), and Backyard Canada drops it at your driveway, so line up help to carry the pieces back to the pad. LeisureCraft supplies assembly videos and drawings. The pod takes a wood stove with a chimney or an electric heater on a hardwired 240V circuit, and LeisureCraft recommends 7.5 kW for electric.
What does the MiniPOD cost all in?
| Cost | Amount | Where the figure comes from |
|---|---|---|

| Karhu wood stove with rocks | $1,687.50 | Backyard Canada's wood option |

| 7.5 kW electric heater | Quoted | Backyard Canada's heater menu starts at 8 kW |
| Shipping | Flat rate | To your driveway anywhere in Canada |
| 240V circuit and permit | Electrician's quote | For an electric heater |
By our math, the MiniPOD with Backyard Canada's Karhu stove and back-wall chimney set comes to about $10,380 before shipping and tax. The listing names neither the Karhu's maker nor the room size it's rated for, so ask before you order.

What to know before you buy
Eastern White Cedar, electric or wood-fired. These decide whether it suits your space and your electrical panel.
- Eastern White CedarEastern white cedar grows from Nova Scotia to Manitoba, so Ontario and Quebec builders can mill it close to home. The US Forest Products Laboratory's Wood Handbook puts it within a few percent of western red cedar on weight and heat flow and rates its heartwood as decay resistant. The wood is a pale, even light brown.
- Wood-FiredA log stove heats the room, so the sauna runs fully off-grid and the crackling fire becomes part of the ritual. Fans of wood heat call its löyly the softest. Plan for a chimney and about 45–60 min of heat-up.
- ElectricAn electric heater holds a steady temperature on its thermostat and needs no chimney. Many models add app or timer control.
