Before you order
This page gathers what True North Saunas publishes about the Large Pod, checked Oct 11, 2026, and adds up what it costs to install. Our verdict on it runs in True North Saunas review: is the cheapest Canadian cedar barrel worth it?.
Who should buy the Large Pod?
The Large Pod suits an Ontario buyer who wants a long cedar pod with a porch and is happy to fetch a crate and build it. True North builds it in Owen Sound from 38 mm (1.5 in) cedar, white or red, and offers it 2.4, 2.7 or 3 m (8, 9 or 10 ft) long with the porch included.
True North doesn't publish a seat count, so ask how many each length holds before you pick one. Buyers who'd rather skip the build should look at SaunaSpa's Cube, which SaunaSpa delivers assembled and rates for up to eight in the 8 ft size. For four people, LeisureCraft's MiniPOD costs about $220 less.
What does it take to install?
Plan a level base for a pod up to 3 m (10 ft) long and 2.4 m (8 ft) high, as True North sizes it. Most orders ship as a crate to a freight depot, where a forklift loads it into your pickup or trailer, and True North says no piece weighs more than 27 kg (60 lb). The crate holds the flat floor, benches, a glass door, a vent kit and the roof boards. True North quotes on-site assembly if you'd rather not build it, and an electric heater needs a 240V circuit from a licensed electrician.
What does the Large Pod cost all in?

| Depot freight | Quoted | Most orders ship to a carrier terminal |

The True North Large Pod Sauna is a traditional sauna. Its heater warms the air to about 80–100°C (176–212°F), and sessions run 15 to 20 minutes. An infrared cabin runs at 45–60°C.
What to know before you buy
Eastern White Cedar, Western Red Cedar, electric or wood-fired. These decide whether it suits your space and your electrical panel.
- Western Red CedarWestern Red Cedar is the high-end sauna wood, and it resists rot and insects naturally. It's aromatic and conducts heat poorly, so benches stay cool enough to sit on at 90°C (194°F).
- Eastern White CedarEastern white cedar grows from Nova Scotia to Manitoba, so Ontario and Quebec builders can mill it close to home. The US Forest Products Laboratory's Wood Handbook puts it within a few percent of western red cedar on weight and heat flow and rates its heartwood as decay resistant. The wood is a pale, even light brown.
- Wood-FiredA log stove heats the room, so the sauna runs fully off-grid and the crackling fire becomes part of the ritual. Fans of wood heat call its löyly the softest. Plan for a chimney and about 45–60 min of heat-up.
