Before you order

This page gathers what Nootka Saunas publishes about the Cube, checked Oct 10, 2026, and adds up what it costs to install. Our verdict on it runs in Nootka Saunas review: which barrel or Cube should you buy?.

Who should buy the Cube?

The Cube is for a buyer who wants a two-tier Finnish room, with an upper bench up where the heat gathers. Nootka seats five, builds it in Squamish from local western red cedar and heats it with a 9 kW Homecraft Revive built in BC, so the heater's Canadian too.

It costs about $5,600 more than the 8 ft barrel with a heater, and it takes longer to warm. Wood heat is out, because the benches leave no floor for a stove.

What does it take to install?

Plan a level pad about 2 by 2.4 m (6 ft 8 in by 7 ft 10 in) for a room weighing about 1,065 kg (2,350 lb). The Revive is hardwired at 240V, and Homecraft calls for a 40- or 50-amp breaker on it, so book the electrician early. Nootka quotes 30 to 45 minutes to reach temperature.

The Cube's price already covers the heater and its touchscreen control. By our math, a Cube with the glass door and phone control comes to $15,500 before freight, the electrician and tax.

What to know before you buy

Western Red Cedar, electric, 240V hardwired. These decide whether it suits your space and your electrical panel.

  • Western Red CedarWestern Red Cedar is the high-end sauna wood, and it resists rot and insects naturally. It's aromatic and conducts heat poorly, so benches stay cool enough to sit on at 90°C (194°F).
  • ElectricAn electric heater holds a steady temperature on its thermostat and needs no chimney. Many models add app or timer control.
  • 240V HardwiredA hardwired model needs a dedicated 240V circuit installed by an electrician. Build roughly $600–$2,500 into your total budget for it.
